State Director:
Tonya Brooks-Thomas

Tonya Brooks-Thomas joined SAFY in 1993 as the Cleveland Treatment Director. In 1994, Tonya became the South Carolina State Director. She held this post for 6 years before returning to Ohio as the Regional State Director.
Tonya is responsible for the eastern region of the state of Ohio including Cleveland, Canton/Akron, Columbus and Groveport divisions. She spearheads the growth and expansion of the programs within the western region. She manages personnel issues such as interviewing, selection, hiring, training, evaluation and disciplinary actions of staff. Tonya acts as the primary liaison within the agency to the State official, in regards to monitoring of state and agency policies compliance.
Tonya holds a Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social from the University of Akron. She is a licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
Western Ohio Region Director: Marion W. Bernard, Supervising-PCC
Marion Bernard joined the SAFY team in 2007 as Regional Director for Western Ohio. Marion provides overall supervisor for the Western Region of Ohio including Findlay, Lima, Sidney, Dayton, and Cincinnati divisions.
Marion has extensive experience in mental health as well as staff and program development. She has special expertise in trauma recovery and is an international caliber presenter. Ms. Bernard is excited about assisting to bring trauma recovery to our foster youth as well as a focus on pre-vocational and vocational training. Ms. Bernard is interested in researching what traits, skills and experiences outstanding foster parents and staff possess as well as “burnout” prevention.
