Championing our Social Workers and their Service to Youth and Families

I am deeply inspired by the dedication of our staff to upholding the core values of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics. These values – service, social justice, the dignity and worth of the person, the importance of relationships, and integrity and competence – guide every interaction and decision we make at SAFY.

As we celebrate Social Worker Month this March, we recognize that public perception of child welfare is often unclear and overlooks the essential role of these professionals. Our social workers do countless quiet acts of dedication, patiently listening to a child’s anxieties, advocating for crucial resources, and facilitating family reunifications. Often, their commitment demands long hours, juggling multiple appointments and midnight crisis calls, all while ensuring each youth and family is treated with care and respect.  We thank you for selflessly going above and beyond for others that need support.

SAFY is working to change the narrative of our child welfare professionals by equipping our staff with the resources and support necessary to uphold our standards of excellence.  This includes ongoing professional development opportunities that provide them with the latest knowledge and best practices to deliver competent and ethical services. We also foster a supportive and ethical work environment that empowers our social workers to navigate the complex demands of their profession with integrity.

Beyond individual support, SAFY prioritizes social justice within the child welfare system. As social work leaders, our staff advocate for policy changes recognizing youth and families' inherent dignity and worth. We strive to dismantle systemic barriers perpetuating inequalities and ensure that all individuals have access to the resources and opportunities they deserve.

At SAFY, we recognize and appreciate social workers, you, who assume a critical role in championing the well-being of those in our communities. In turn, we provide unwavering support and resources that enable you to do purpose-driven work with dedication, empathy, and professionalism. By amplifying their voices and celebrating contributions, we continue to serve our communities positively across the nation.
