SAFY of America Announces New Board Members

Delphos, OH – Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth of America, Inc. (SAFY), a leading child welfare organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors, Gloria J. Holloway, Retired Deputy Director of the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) and Ricardo Perry, National Program Director, Friends of the Children. With a shared commitment to the well-being of youth and families, the new board members bring a wealth of experience and expertise that will further strengthen SAFY’s mission and impact.

Gloria J. Holloway, Retired Deputy Director of the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR), joins the board with nearly 35 years of experience in the field of Human Services. During her tenure, she worked in Adult Services, Contracts and Grants, Licensing, Placements, and Resource Management. Additionally, she is retired from the United States Air Force Reserves at Maxwell Air Force Base where she obtained the highest rank as a Master Sergeant, Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of the Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) office.  Holloway has recently returned to the State of Alabama as a Support Coordinator with the State Department of Public Health, Office of HIV Prevention and Care.  She is a strong advocate for services and supports to preserve families and youth, believing every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Ricardo Perry, National Program Director at Friends of the Children, brings a diverse background from police officer to school resource officer, where his purpose was realized.  Perry founded The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Club in Charleston, SC, a program with a mission to guide young men in grades three through twelve through transitions into adulthood through intentional mentoring. Perry is also an author and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He is committed to enhancing opportunities to cultivate the next generation of leaders.

Kristy Brown, MPA, GPC

With over two decades of experience in the human service sector, Kristy is driven by a deep passion for creating lasting social impact. Her expertise in program development, communications, and grant acquisition has enabled programs to scale and have a more profound effect on our communities. Kristy holds a unique perspective having worked at all levels of the child welfare field from direct service provision, marketing, development, and leading programs providing a strong knowledge of the issues facing the field. As the Communications Director for SAFY of America, she firmly believes engaging and inspiring storytelling is at the heart of meaningful change and strives to offer transformative work for the youth and families served.
