SAFY Announces Promotion of Larry Dancy, MS, LPC to Executive Director of Alabama Programs
[Birmingham, AL] – Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth of Alabama, Inc. (SAFY of Alabama) is pleased to announce the promotion of Larry Dancy, MS, LPC to Executive Director. With nearly 40 years of experience serving adults, adolescents, and youth, and 35 years in management and administrative roles, Mr. Dancy’s extensive expertise and people-centered leadership will guide SAFY of Alabama’s programs across the state into its next phase of growth and success.
Throughout his career, including a nine-year tenure as Director of Social Services for the Salvation Army in Birmingham, Mr. Dancy has been committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals and families. Since joining SAFY of Alabama’s Birmingham Division as Treatment Director in 2022, he has successfully overseen key improvements in service delivery, operational performance, and team development, positioning SAFY of Alabama for long-term sustainability.

Mr. Dancy holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Alabama State University, as well as a Master of Science in Counseling. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has spent his career devoted to fostering strong, resilient communities.
